In this lesson, we used copy papers to draw some different shapes from our research pages, then use copy papers to draw a symmetrical pattern for each shape, the teacher asked us to put every pattern in different parts of the body as the clothes, the various shapes of graphs gave me a lot of design inspiration, so I did a lot of copy paper experiments. After that, we needed to draw these shapes into the outline of real clothes, which was very difficult for me, because my hand drawing is not very good, so I did not think I can translate it well into the shape of clothes. But the teacher told me do not worry, it was just trying the profiles of clothes, there was no real wrong or right, so I boldly tried all kinds of shapes with the teacher’s encouragement, even if it looked strange.
What’s more, we explored copying a graphic into multiple effects, such as a sleeve into several sleeves together or a pocket into a number of pockets, this experiment was very interesting for me, it let me know more about the changes of clothes, and I should not be limited by daily clothing, I need to try more clothing styles that I had never seen before, it can also make my design more unique.
I was very interested in today’s class, because it can greatly improve my creativity and imagination. The experiment of copying paper is a good way to find design inspirations. The superposition of various shapes was a very effective design skill for me, and I will continue to use this method to design the clothes in the future!
